For IELTS teachers

Run your IELTS writing class in one place.

Set Task 1 and Task 2 writing for your class. Every essay comes back already scored on the four IELTS criteria, with every correction marked. You read it, give the final grade, and see how the whole class is doing.

01 / How it works

Four steps, from class code to grade.

  1. Invite your class Share a class code or a link. Each student joins from their own VoyaLang account and sees exactly what they will share with you before they agree.
  2. Set a task Pick a Task 1 or Task 2 topic for Academic or General Training. Send it to the whole class, one group or a few students, with a due date and your own instructions.
  3. See who handed it in One board shows who has submitted, who is late, and which essays you still need to read.
  4. Read and grade Open an essay to see its scores, every correction and the corrected version. Keep our bands or change them. The grade your student sees is yours.
02 / The final grade

We mark first. You decide.

Every essay reaches you already scored, with a band for each of the four IELTS criteria and every correction marked. That saves you the first read. It does not replace yours.

When you disagree, change the band. You set each of the four criteria, and the overall is worked out from them. Your grade then replaces ours everywhere it appears: on the dashboard your student sees, in their history, and in your class numbers. There is only one grade, and it is the one you gave.

Where you change a criterion, our explanation for it is taken away, so your student never reads a reason for a band you did not give.

03 / Progress

See the whole class, not just one essay.

Follow your class average week by week, open one student to see how their bands have moved, or pick one topic and see how every student did on it. The topics with the lowest bands come first, so you know what to set again.

When a task is done, you can share the result with the class: how many students landed on each band, with no names. Students see only the numbers.

04 / Privacy

Your students decide what you see.

Nothing is shared until a student agrees. Before they join, they read a short screen that lists exactly what you will be able to see.

You see
The name they choose to show you and the name on their account, when they joined, the class they are in, and the writing they do for your tasks, with its scores and corrections. Their other practice from after they joined, only if they turn that on.
You never see
Their email address, their account settings, their support messages, or anything they wrote before they joined.

A student can leave the class at any time, and your access to their work stops.

FAQ

Questions from teachers

Is VoyaLang free for teachers?
Yes. The teacher tools cost nothing. Your students write and submit from their own free VoyaLang accounts.
How do I get a teacher account?
Create a free account, then write to us from the contact page and tell us you teach. We turn on the teacher tools for that account, and you can start inviting students.
Can I set IELTS writing homework for my class?
Yes. Pick a Task 1 or Task 2 topic for Academic or General Training, send it to the whole class, one group or a few students, and add a due date and your instructions. A board then shows who has handed it in and who is late.
Can I change the band score my student gets?
Yes. Every essay arrives already scored on the four criteria. You give your own band for each criterion, the overall is worked out from them, and your grade replaces ours everywhere your student sees it.
How do students join my class?
You share a class code or a link. Each student signs in to their own account, reads exactly what they will share with you, and agrees before anything reaches you.
Can I see everything my students write?
No. You see the writing they do for your tasks, from the day they join. Their other practice is shared only if they turn that on themselves, and you never see their email address or anything from before they joined.
