Terms of Use

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. Scope and provider

1.1 These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the use of the VoyaLang website and app at voyalang.com and app.voyalang.com ("VoyaLang"), with or without a user account.

1.2 VoyaLang is provided by the operator named in our Impressum ("we", "us"). Our Privacy Policy describes how we process personal data.

1.3 The email address in our Impressum is our single point of contact for users and authorities under the EU Digital Services Act. Authorities may contact us in English or German.

1.4 By creating an account or using VoyaLang, you accept these Terms.

2. The service

2.1 VoyaLang is an AI-based practice tool for IELTS Writing. It scores essays, reports and letters, corrects them and produces an improved version.

2.2 All results are generated by AI. They are estimates for practice purposes only, are not official IELTS scores and may be inaccurate. We do not guarantee any result in the IELTS test.

2.3 We do not guarantee that VoyaLang is available at all times, operates without errors or retains submitted texts, or that its results are correct. You should keep your own copies of important texts.

2.4 IELTS is a registered trademark of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. VoyaLang is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of them.

3. User account

3.1 You must provide a valid email address that belongs to you and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3.2 Each person may hold only one account. Accounts may not be shared.

3.3 We may refuse any registration.

4. Usage limits

4.1 Free use is subject to limits, for example on the number and frequency of submissions. We set these limits and may change them at any time. The current limits are shown in the app.

4.2 There is no entitlement to the continued availability of any particular feature or number of free submissions.

5. User content

5.1 You are solely responsible for all content you submit or share and for your use of VoyaLang. You may only submit texts that you have written or are entitled to use, and they should not contain personal data of other people.

5.2 We are under no obligation to monitor content submitted by users.

5.3 You retain all rights to your texts. You grant us a free, non-exclusive right to store, reproduce, process and display them to the extent necessary to operate VoyaLang, resolve technical problems and enforce these Terms. This includes transmission to the AI providers named in our Privacy Policy, display to your teacher if you join a class, and display on any result you share.

5.4 If you breach these Terms or the law, you are liable to us for the resulting damage and must indemnify us against claims by third parties, including the costs of our legal defense, unless you are not responsible for the breach.

6. Prohibited use

6.1 VoyaLang may not be used to:

  • (a) submit or share illegal content or content that infringes the rights of others, such as copyright;
  • (b) submit or share insulting or offensive language, hate speech, threats, content glorifying violence or sexually explicit content;
  • (c) harass or deceive others or impersonate another person;
  • (d) disrupt, overload or attack VoyaLang or circumvent its checks, limits or security measures;
  • (e) access VoyaLang, or copy or collect its content, by means of bots or scripts;
  • (f) circumvent the free usage limits, for example by using multiple accounts, or resell access to VoyaLang.

7. Content moderation and measures

7.1 We review content with automated tools, some of which use AI, and through review by our team. Automated tools may refuse a text without human review.

7.2 We decide at our own discretion whether content or conduct breaches these Terms or the law. In that case, we may, without prior notice, refuse or remove content, disable shared results, restrict or suspend use, block registrations or sign-ins, or suspend or close the account.

8. Shared results

8.1 Anyone with the link can view, copy and forward a shared result, including the essay. You decide what you share and are responsible for it.

8.2 We cannot remove copies made by others, such as screenshots.

8.3 We may disable any or all shared results at any time.

8.4 Anyone can report a shared result through the "Report it to us" link on its page.

9. Teachers

9.1 By joining a teacher's class, a student gives that teacher access to their work, as shown on the joining screen.

9.2 Grades given by a teacher are the teacher's own assessment, not ours.

9.3 Teachers may use their students' work only for teaching purposes and must keep it confidential.

10. Intellectual property

10.1 All rights in VoyaLang, including its software, design, topics and charts, belong to us. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use VoyaLang for your own practice or, as a teacher, for teaching. We may revoke this right at any time.

10.2 All rights not expressly granted are reserved. VoyaLang and its content may not be copied, sold or republished, except for sharing your own results.

10.3 We may use ideas and feedback you send us freely and without compensation.

11. Changes

11.1 We may change, suspend or discontinue VoyaLang or any part of it at any time, in particular to improve it, maintain its security, comply with legal requirements or for business reasons.

11.2 We may amend these Terms at any time. Amendments take effect when we publish them on this page, and we notify you of them in the app or by email. By continuing to use VoyaLang after an amendment, you accept it. If you do not agree to an amendment, you may delete your account.

11.3 We may transfer VoyaLang and our rights and obligations under these Terms to another company. If you do not agree to the transfer, you may delete your account.

12. Refusal and termination

12.1 We may refuse, restrict, suspend or end the service for any user and close any account at any time, for any reason, at our own discretion.

12.2 You may delete your account at any time on your Profile page.

12.3 How your data is handled after deletion is described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Liability

13.1 You use VoyaLang at your own risk. We are liable only for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where the law does not allow liability to be excluded.

13.2 For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an essential obligation, meaning one that makes the use of VoyaLang possible and on which you may rely, and only for the typical, foreseeable damage.

13.3 These rules also apply to our representatives, our employees and the companies we engage.

14. Governing law and final provisions

14.1 Users must comply with German law and the laws of the country from which they use VoyaLang.

14.2 These Terms are governed by German law. For consumers, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country of their habitual residence remain unaffected.

14.3 These Terms are available in English only.

14.4 Should any provision of these Terms be invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
